Friends
So over the last few years I have come to work with people with special needs. Children really-with autism, down syndrome, developmental disabilities; things of this nature. I have found a real love for doing so. Recently, in my job, I have been working with a woman who is 40 and just had a stroke. Although she is able to function normally, for the most part, it is obvious parts of her brain have been affected and at times it is like I'm talking to a child. I find this very sad and very humbling and very hopeful, all at the same time. At first, I was actually kind of wary of talking with her, as I was at first when I first started working with the kids. I think it's just a natural instinct people have of somtimes being fearful or scared of what they don't understand. But today she came in and talked with me for a bit and I helped her out with some things and then she gave me a hug and it just made me feel good; plain and simple. I know not everyone is going to take the extra time needed to help her and I should be that person; everyone should be that person but they're not, so I'm glad I could help in what little way I did.

Blah
I feel like I'm running low on stuff to talk about. Let's see, what's going on? We moved not too long ago and we are working on making the house "homey". We have never really even put pictures on the wall-I'm not sure why-but things are looking better now in our new apartment. We switched our dogs to natural food without by-products. I highly recommend everyone do this. Think how gross by-products are and you're feeding them to your animals? yuck. I've also been buying some early Christmas gifts....and we've been listening to Christmas music at work. What can I say?

Random Things Going On Today
So I'm at work...on my weekend job...yes, I work7 days a week, it's stinky. On the weekends I work in the leasing office of my apartment complex, and we have a mini-waterfall outside with some coy fish in a pond. I think it's overflowing. There is water all over the sidewalk, and all these bubbles in the pond. Maybe it's stopped up. I hope I don't come to work tomorrow and the entire leasing office is under water. Seriously, the water just keeps spreading out on the sidewalk. I would also like to mention that for whatever odd reason my husband wants to go see good luck chuck this weekend. maybe because it has jessica alba in it, but he's really not like that. not into chick flicks or seeing movies just for the girls. did ebert and robert give it two thumbs up or something and i'm not just in the game? also, i applied for a job at UCO. Cross my fingers I'll hopefully get an interview! And finally, I've had 2 cokes, 3 oreos and a package of peanut butter crackers today.

Animal Shelter
My dream is to open an animal rescue shelter. If that could somehow be my full-time job I would love it! SO, if anyone has any connections or knows how I can start one or knows someone who needs someone to work for them or anything, let me know!

Vegas

So, my husband and I got married in Vegas last December. I just found a really good deal on priceline for $400 each and I realllllly want to buy it! But I know I'm going to have to save-but it just happens to be on the same week we went last year! So my motivation right now is to save for that-if I can even save-I'm bad with my budgeting. Oh-and no job offers yet. Still crossing my fingers!
p.s.cirque du soleil is awesome!

Work

So I have been working my first full-time job since January. I'm not crazy about it-I know it's not for me. I actually had an interview last week and another one this week-and I'm going to have to take PTO this week to go on one of the interviews, which makes me feel kind-of bad, but at the same time, I have to take care of myself and make sure my bills get paid! And both of these opportunities are so much better suited for me. The job I have now just came at a time when I really needed a full-time job. It is related to my interests but not where I want to be. I'm excited and nervous -and I may not even get a job offer-but it's kind of exciting to think about. The real world is scary. Knowing I will be working 8-5 for the next 40 years is scary-so I need to find a job I really enjoy, since I'll be spending so much freaking time there!!!

Back Again
I love fall. I love back to school, but not college back to school, pre-college back to school. I miss it. I love school supplies. I love buying new clothes for the school year. I miss the excitement. I miss school days and coming home to watch Home Improvement. I miss having your own desk and the little box of pencils and papers crammed inside. I miss recess. I even miss stupid lockers and all the stupid cliques and how much I hated high-school-it was so simple then. I would rather be the person I am now and go back. I love markers and crayons and notebooks and sneakers and football season, even though I don't completely get football and hardly went to any games. I miss those days.
4/16/07
Maybe
So, I was thinking how a lot of people, not in my generation, say that people in my generation don't understand the concept of working your way up and that you have to start on the bottom....you know what I'm talking about. I agree, a lot of them don't, a lot of them feel like they can just go to the top and they are not qualified to do so. However, I feel a lot of people in my generation are capable of taking on greater challenges. I'm so unbeleivably bored doing desk work and data entry and phones-I'm capable of so much more! I'm not saying put me in charge but I don't need 5 years experience to do something-I'm a fast learner, throw me in the lion pit-I want to go! Could this be because my generation was brought up in a school system and a work environment with tougher requirements, more technology and greater advancements and overall knowledge than others? Just a theory-maybe we are capable of more than they think.

Food For Though
The increased use of debit and credit cards is a downfall for the homeless....think about it. Oh, and is it wrong that I find myself getting really angry at the 7-eleven girl on the side of the road with her big magnetic pole, changing the numbers on the gas prices?
3/31/07
Well
SO I'm reading this book and it says that people either believe things that happen are because of fate or because of choices. TO figure it out, you just ask yourself who you blame when things don't go your way? To you ask God, why, why, why, or do you say, why did I make these choices to get here, if only I had made a different decision. As a person of faith and a person who believes a lot in destiny, I suprised myself to relize that with all that is going on in my life right now I have been looking at myself and thinking what stupid and wrong decisions I had made and I wish I could go back and make different ones. SO, I think it goes back to the whole free will stuff. There is a plan for me, but it's up to me to make the right decisions to get there. I dont know. I can't help but feel like over the past few months.....few years....I've made a string of bad choices that are just now catching up with me. I wish I had rewind. I'm not sure how to get out of this mess.

My Routinessssssssssssssssss
So now that I've started an 8-5 job I'm back into a routine of things that I haven't been in since high-school. Up at 7:05-out the door at 7:42, home by 5:30. Saturday mornings to the bakery for breakfast, dog park on Sundays............supposedly routine is good for you, right? It's kind of strange. I haven't had this much structure in awhile. I still am not capable of getting up that early. I can do it, but it's not like my body is ready for it. I'm ready for summer. For some reason getting up is a lot easier in the summer. In fact, spring and summer just put me in an all around better mood. And Frasier, Season 9 comes out in May...looking forward to it. I really don't have anything important to write about.

Newscasters, Part 2
So, one of my first blogs I wrote on here was about how newscasters really bother me and how I see them everywhere. Just to recap, I've seen Maggie Carlo once, Amy McRee (sp ) twice, this one lady from news 9 driving, Jessica Shambach and a mathis brother on 3 separate occassions. I feel like I'm leaving one out....
Anyway, during my weekend excursion to the mall I saw Jessica Shambach, again, in the Coach store. Mind you, she is one of my least favorites. The first time I saw her she was all decked out in her "news" gear, but this weekend she was almost unrecognizeable in her weekend wear! It's amazing what they do to them on the television-make up wise anyway!
So, I wonder who I will see next in my newscasting adventures....

New Class
Well, I just started this blog in January for the blog class, and I just found out I still need to post once a week for my advanced composition class! I'm actually glad I get to keep posting my random thoughts.
As for what's going on right now, things are shifting at work and I'm not crazy about it. I guess I'm not so good with change.

Home

Saw this on the PostSecret blog. Thought it was worth sharing:
You know that point in your life when you realize that the house that you grew up in isn't really your home anymore? Even though you have some place where you can put your stuff that idea of home is gone. You won't have this feeling again until you create a new idea of home for yourself, you know, for your kids, for the family you start, it's like a cycle or something. Maybe that's all family really is. A group of people who miss the same imaginary place.
Ending Notes
So, I have to say, I'm a little dissapointed in some of the people's in this class blogs. I know that the people I'm referring to are not reading this-so no worries. There are some blogs that only have one or two sentences for their 2 posts every week! Is this really considered a blog post? It doesn't take that much more effort to actually write a paragraph-which I assume would be worth more credit. Half this class is the blog-so wouldn't you put more effort into it? I find enjoyment in reading the other posts-but I want something of substance to read! It doesn't mean every post has to be great, but at least 1 should be out of all the posts we've had to write! Come on. It's kind of like that feeling when you have to work on a group project-and half the people do the work but the other half do nothing-and still get their names on the paper.

I Believe

I believe in choosing your path and your fate will find you. I believe sunny, warm days, make the world a better place. I believe dogs are mans best friend. I believe it doesn't hurt to indulge and buy a new pair of shoes, even if you don't need them. I believe every girl should wear a skirt once in awhile, it'll make you feel good. I believe summer takes everyone back to their childhood, and each summer the little kid in us comes out to play. I believe we should all play a giant game of kickball now and again. I believe pop is bad for you, but there are worse things and you only live once. I believe you can never have too much fun. I believe belly laughs are a form of exercise. I believe you can learn something from everyone. I believe in the power of positive thinking. I believe you should never give up. I believe in trusting your instincts. I believe God made the beach from a little slice of Heaven. I believe plane rides are meant to be fun. I believe you will never bear more burdens than you can handle. I believe riding withthe windows down is refreshing. I believe sweatpants and flip-flops are fashionable. I believe in the good. I believe you should give back to something. I believe the south is comfort in physical form. I believe everyone has a purpose. I believe you will make it through, and so will I.

2 Random Things I Saw Today
In the to-go line they asked the woman if she wanted disposable silverware or chopsticks with her order. "Chopsticks", she said. Really? I know it's fun and all, to try and pretend like us Americans know how to properly use them. I like to use them. But if you're at home-alone-why use the chopsticks?
These 4 people-the whole double date. One couple looks like they have been together longer-the other maybe a set-up, fairly new to each other but not so new he that he felt comfortable enough to put his hand on her back to lead her forward in the line. She offered to pay but the card was declined-so he paid with his card. You could see the awkwardness on her face; feel the embarassment burning her up on the inside. Think back to those first few weeks together-that would totally suck.

BCC
So, blind carbon copies are like the modern day 3-way call, ya know? You know, how when you were younger and you would call a friend and ask what they thought of another friend, not telling them that friend was on the other line on 3 way. Blind carbon copies could potentially be used for the same deceit. I get copied a lot on e-mails at work and sometimes I feel a little sneaky when I am BCC on something-even if it's a totally innocent letter! It feels like intrusion b/c the other person doesn't know! Crazy, crazy!

For Love or Money
Ok, so I don't LOVE my job-but it's not bad. I work with good people, for a good company, and my day goes by fast enough I have very few moments where I'm bored to death, staring at the clock. Right now-I work in a support role, making a little less then a first year teacher. I don't see myself doing what the "head" people in my office do, but I also need to make more money than I do. Bottom line-I know I can't live a life on the salary now. I haven't even started paying off student loans yet! But I like my job and the people-when do you make the decision on which motivator you follow? I know it's hard to find good jobs where you mesh with everyone and can like what you do-for the most part. It's true you can make too little in a good place, just as much as you can make too much in a bad place-and be unhappy on both ends. Does that make sense? I don't like being an adult sometimes!
2/7/07
Public Restrooms
Did you ever realize how trusting we are of public restrooms? We go in, completely trusting that everyone in society is abiding by the male/female guidelines. What's stopping someone from the opposite sex of going in the wrong restroom, just because they can? How do we know when we're in there someone won't just walk into the wrong one! It may sound simple, but public restrooms are very vulnerable place to be! Right there, for everyone, free for all!
2/5/07
Pride
So, I have way too much pride. Had too much pride. Too much to take a stand for things, including myself. Too many chances I let slip through my fingers. Too much pride that I care so damn much about what everyone else thinks and I want to "prove them wrong". So much pride I had no confidence in myself, too much reliance on others and not enough courage to do something about it all. I feel sick now. I feel in so deep and looking back at all the different choices I could have made.......at what point am I going to have to fix all this? It's either fix it or hope it gets better. I am changing and I didn't see it coming.

Rehab Happy
So, what's up with everyone going to rehab? Miss. USA-or whoever she is-going to rehab. b/c she was caught underage drinking at a bar or whatever and since she's a "role model" she has to do something about it. And just because she took her first drink at 14 she's an alcoholic? Um, hello-doesn't like have of the teenage population drink that young and sneak into bars and engage in underage drinking? I guess they should all go to rehab too. And why is the guy from Grey's Anatomy going to rehab? Because of his foot in the mouth disease? It seems like ABC is trying to figure out a way to deal with the fact he keeps making comments many find offensive-so hey-let's ship him off to rehab for it! That doesn't make sense to me. It's a 12 step program that teaches you to love others. "Hi, I'm (your name here) and I compulsively throw out offensive comments. Wow-that feels so good to admit!" I wish whoever is behind all this would quit trying to put a band aid over everything by sending them to rehab-the answer to everything apparantly. Things are what they are-and some people need to chill out about it. And you can't please everyone. And Miss. USA shouldn't have gone to rehab she should have been stripped of her title! I don't care what she does in her spare time and I don't care if everyone else does it to-she has a job to perform and is supposed to be setting an example. And don't say thats pressure and whatever else-THATS YOUR TITLE AND YOUR JOB AND HAS BEEN SINCE 1425, when they had the first pageant! Next thing you know-someone will be saying how much they love Coke and someone will get mad because that's offensive to them, a Dr. Pepper lover, and it's prejudice, and they're going to go to rehab to learn how to stop saying they love Coke so much! And then they'll discover they're a coke addict-and that's going to open a whole new can of worms......
Cry me a River
This is his box of happiness. It has all the nice words inside.
How convenient! Just pop open a can of Rehab, and all your problems will be better! Are you politically incorrect today? Just take a sip, and you'll be cured!

Life is Crazy
Life is crazy, unpredictable, happy, sad, scary......right now. I have several things on my mind. I want to know who believes in fate-who believes it's timing-who believes that if you make a wrong choice life will eventually turn you back in the right direction and put you where you're supposed to be. Or, you make a wrong turn, and that's it-too little, too late. Sometimes you look back and it's that tiniest decision, that if you'd made a different choice, your life would be in a totally different place. Or is it that there are rough times but it'll get better and you just can't give up? How do you know in each situation what's really going on? Right now I wish I had a magic 8 ball for my life. I feel out of control!

Idol Re-cap

Is re-cap hyphenated like that? Oh well. So, I am 22, I love American Idol, and I'm ok with that. I admit it proudly! My favorites so far are the guy with the REALLY long hair and beard, the guy that reminded them of Justin Timberlake, the opera singer girl-even though she's kind of wierd, but she has a good voice and there was some guy from last week who could beat box really well-he was cool. Simon just cracks me up. He gets the funniest looks on his face and can say the funniest things. Yes, I know, he goes too far sometimes and can be mean. What about the girl who said she wanted them to teach her to sing? She was a little crazy. And everyone keeps going out the wrong door. Good times.

Is it payday yet?

So, I just wrote a check to Target for $60 when I have $60 in my account, and I just took $15 out at the ATM and I just remembered I sent off a credit card payment that will probably go through tomorrow or the next day. Whoops. I used to be really diligent about keeping track of my account, now I just call in to check the balance. I just started a full-time job last week and won't get my first paycheck until this week, and I'll also get a refund from my student loans, I just hope everything gets where it's going on time and nothing bounces! Luckily, I get paid every week at my new job. I've been broke for the past week and I've been scrounging for everything-it sucks! I cut my hair a few weeks ago too, now I wish I hadn't. Every time I do I remember how much I wanted long luxurious locks, but now they're gone!

Haute Couture
In spite of the cold, I am so excited for spring clothes! I love spring, I love clothes-it's a great combo.!
Cute

I love fashion-aesthetically speaking really! It's wonderful! I just started my first official full-time job and I've been searching for clothes and the other day I got two skirts for $10 from Banana Republic (that was with my Gap employee discount...but I dont work at Gap anymore as of this week...anyway) and I got this green sweater I love from Target for $13! I love sales! I usually don't have the patience to shop them and dig through stuff but I came across this stuff realitively easy!
Also, I am in search of a khaki or white linen blazer, so if anyone comes across one, please let me know!

Blah Blah Blah
So today, after a day of work, I thought I would top it off with a nice fattening meal from McDonalds-and my window is down as I'm sitting in line and I hear the lady in front of me telling the girl at the window something about how she can't hear at the speaker thing where you order and they're being unprofessional b/c she can't hear and they're talking or something along those lines. It drives me nuts when people complain and whine and throw fits about the dumbest things. Having worked retail for over five years it's amazing how rude people can be. They get mad at me b/c, yes, I make all the rules and policies our company follows, and yes, it's my fault your card was declined, and yes, it's my fault I need that shirt your child is chewing on to keep him quiet so I can ring it up and de-sensor it so you don't set the alarm off in every store you go to. Anywho, in defense of McDonalds from the mean lady: 1-It's McDonalds, who ever said they were professional? 2-it's just food-and fast food at that. Some people need to take a chill pill. There's no sense in finding things to nit-pick at-and it can really ruin someone's day when they do that. It's just not nice.

Yay!
Ok, I'm SUPER excited because I just discovered something that has been right in front of me the whole time and I never noticed-CONTINUING EDUCATION. As in, fun classes I'm actually interested in that are $30-$100, in the evenings, that are, let me stress again, FUN! I think I'm going to do the courses at Francis Tuttle. I want to do beginning sewing, maybe the cheesecake class-a painting or sculpting class would be fun too. But I think I'll start wtih sewing. I'm so excited!

I hate the news
Is it just me or are newscasters like the most annoying people on the planet? They just drive me nuts. I won't name any specifics............tyler suiters, jessica shambach, rick mitchell, maggie carlo, linda cavanaugh....
And, for some reason, I am cursed with seeing them everywhere. I have seen at least 5 different newscasters within the last year at various locations...plus one mathis brother.
I think what is annoying me today about the news is how they're freaking out about how it's supposed to snow this weekend. One, I don't want it to snow, so, I don't want to hear about it and I don't want to hear how OKC is preparing the roads and how to keep extra warm and toasty. And, I don't like when they say a giant ice storm is coming and two snowflakes fall.
I'm ready for spring.
Boycott the news.

On My Mind
I couldn't quite decide what to post about-I'm new to the whole online journal stuff. So, I'm just going to write about a few things that are on my mind at the moment. First, I would like to say I get very sad and annoyed when I see stray animals wandering around. Today I saw this beautiful white kitten jump into a dumpster, looking for some food. I'm sorry, but some people are so dumb. They get animals and don't want to be responsible for them and it makes me sick. Three of my four animals have all been adopted/rescued and I can't imagine what kind of home they might have if I hadn't taken them or they were homeless or if they'd just been killed because no-one wanted them. If people would stop breeding their dogs like there was no tomorrow, and if they would get their animals spayed and neutered and if there was a little more common sense maybe this wouldn't be a problem. I wish I could take every one I see on the street, home with me.
Second, I would like to say that I managed to buy all my books for this semester for around $150, which isn't too bad. However, I would also like to mention that I usually do not open my text book once throughout the semester, because I use my notes, and I often wonder why a textbook is required.
Finally, on a positive note, the weather was very nice today and I can't wait for summer!
